Bible Crafts (Ages 1-5)

I work for my church once a week doing the nursery during a bible study. We are currently going through the bible and creating a work of art to remind us what we have learned and a verse to remind them as well of what they've learned.

JOSEPH'S COAT OF MANY COLORS: Lesson Focus was God is in Control
I cut out a coat shape and gave the kids the coat on a piece of paper with some watercolor paints. They painted their coat whatever colors they wanted. The painting on the left was done by a four year old and the one on the right was done by my one year old. I then gave them a piece of large paper with the verse written on the bottom and gave them yellow and white crayons and they drew (I helped my son for an example for the other kids.) the sun, moon and stars on the paper. We then glued their coat on top of their drawing.
MATERIALS: White paper, watercolor paints, brushes, water cups, Colored paper, yellow and white crayons, paper towels.

NOAH'S ARK: Lesson focus was God keeps His Promises
I gave the kids a paper plate and put a couple dots of red finger paint at the top of half of the plate.  they then made a sweeping circular motion to make the band of red. They were then given some  yellow to make orange by mixing some of the red with the yellow. Then their fingers were wiped and they got a little more yellow, followed by blue to make green and red again to make violet.
MATERIALS: Red, Blue, and Yellow Fingerpaint; white and blue construction paper, paper plate

ADAM AND EVE: The focus of this lesson was the Lord disciplines those He loves.

The kids put their hand in some brown paint (tempera is safest) and made hand prints to make the branches of a tree. They then could use a paintbrush to paint the trunk of the tree or draw it with their fingers.  They were then given green finger paint and made the leaves.
