Fingerpainting crafts

Finger paint is amazing and so much fun for kids of all ages. I have had fifth graders on the edge of their seat they were so excited to get to paint with their hands and make a mess.

"Painting" with Shaving Cream
I haven't tried using shaving cream on a wooden table, but on glass or on a plastic table cloth it is great. Take the shaving cream and squirt a pile in front of a kid and tell them to spread it out and draw in it and have a great time! This is great if you are a teacher and need to clean your desks. If it gets on the clothes, don't freak out! Just brush it off and your child will smell like they have had a fresh shave. ;)

With little ones I continually have to remind not to put it in their mouths. Another great option that I haven't tried yet is painting with chocolate pudding...this would be more of a mess. I haven't done this because I'm concerned it would confuse my one year old that he can put finger paint or shaving cream in his mouth. I don't think he can differentiate that some things you paint with are good to eat and some are not.

PAINTING WITH FEET:
Feet artwork: Use finger-paint and squirt directly on canvas. (Done best with two adults on each end of the canvas.) Best to have a tub of soapy water and towels next to canvas for when painting is complete. We used a painting tarp under the canvas, but this painting could be done outside.

This is a really sweet foot artwork as well. You or your child if they are older paint the bottom of their feet with finger paint making a simple design and then stamping the foot on the paper. Wipe the painted foot and paint the same design on the other foot. This artwork was done by a four year old and I painted the bottom of her feet and she drew the body of her butterfly.
