RECYCLED JEWLERY BOXES
1. Take an old box of some sort such as the smart ones box you see below or a milk carton will work as well you cut it almost in half but leave one side long enough to fold over to cover the top of the box. This will work as a lid.
2. Make papier mache paste. This can be made with either elmers glue and water or flour and water.
3. Rip up some newspaper into strips...big and small will work for big surfaces and for corners.
4. Dip the newspaper strips into the paste and then apply to the box. You don't want it to be too wet or the box will not hold together. But just wet enough to cover the entire box.
5. Cover with one or two layers of newspaper. I then covered mine with tissue paper so that if any of the area didn't get painted by the kids then it wouldn't be newspaper showing through.
6. Then add decorations and paint. I added a button with string onto mine to latch the box closed. The milk cartons kept wanting to stay open.
I made this with some children for a playdate and had the boxes made ahead of time. But if you were making it over a couple days the children could papier mache the boxes themselves.

I LOVE YOU MOM BECAUSE....
1. Take a piece of paper, it can be any color, but blue seems to look nice.
2. Take a plate and put green fingerpaint on it and press childs into the paint until it is covered.
3. I cut a piece of paper into a flower pot shape. A rectangle or square piece of construction paper would work as well.
4. Take pieces of colored construction paper and glue to the ends of the fingerprint or just all over the handprint.
5. I saw online writing on it I love you mom because....

PAINTED FLOWER POT
1. Take a flower pot and paint it with acrylic paint. There is no need to paint the inside as it will be covered with dirt.
2. Place flowers into the flower pot.
3. I had the kids go outside and dig up dirt to fill in any empty spots. (This was a lot of the kids favorite part!) Every kid loves to play in the dirt.
4. I then sprayed the flower pots with a clear coat to protect the pot.
5. I also took construction paper and made flowers and put pictures of the kids in the center of the flower and hot glued a popsicle stick to the back of the flower.
